For Parents 💖
LikePose lets kids play at being a content creator: styling an avatar, posing and writing captions, in a completely pretend, closed world. Here’s what you should know, including exactly what it costs.
What your child does in LikePose
They dress up an illustrated avatar, choose a place and a pose, and build a caption from word cards (there is no free typing). Posting earns pretend likes and followers. The game teaches that thoughtful, specific captions win followers, while outfits only win likes, so creativity matters more than stuff.
What age is it for?
LikePose is rated 4+ on the App Store. Captions are built from short word cards, so it suits kids who can read simple sentences, roughly ages 6 and up. Younger kids enjoy the dressing up and squishies with a grown-up reading the cards along. Nothing in it is scary, and there are no ads or strangers at any age.
Safety by design
- No real people. Followers and likes are simulated. There is no chat, no messaging and no way to contact anyone. Kids can add a friend only when they are side by side, by scanning each other’s code in the app: friends see each other’s avatar look, send preset sticker reactions and can gift a squishy. Nothing goes online.
- No real photos. The avatar is a drawing. The App never uses the photo library, and it uses the camera only to scan a friend’s code when your child chooses to (the picture is read on the device and never saved or sent).
- No personal data. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics. The App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”. See our Privacy Policy.
- No leaderboards. Kids only compare with their own personal bests.
- Kind by default. Photo filters change colors and mood only, never face or body “beauty” edits.
Is the squishy box gambling?
No. We built it so it can’t be:
- It can’t be bought. Boxes open with Gold, and Gold is only earned by playing (daily goals, likes, levels). Gold is never sold, never comes with a purchase and can’t be swapped for anything bought.
- Every box is a win. Each box always holds a squishy your child doesn’t have yet. There are no duplicates: a series of 7 is finished in exactly 7 boxes.
- Nothing is hidden. Each box shows what’s inside and the odds before it opens.
- No chase. The rarest squishy of each series isn’t in a box at all. Kids earn it by playing three little mini-games. No timers, no “last chance” boxes, no near misses.
What it costs
LikePose is free to download and the whole game can be played without ever paying. There are no subscriptions. For families who want them, there are 9 optional one-time purchases, each showing exactly what’s included before buying. Nothing random or mystery is ever sold.
- Sparks (the in-game money for clothes and places, also earned by playing): 1,000 for $0.99 · 4,500 for $2.99 · 10,000 for $4.99
- Post refills (posts also refill on their own over time): 5 for $0.99 · 20 for $2.99 · Speedy Week, 35 refills and faster refills for 7 days, $4.99
- Outfit packs (new outfits to keep): Pastel Princess $1.99 · Pastel Princess big pack $2.99 · Mega bundle with all three themed packs and an exclusive gown $4.99
US prices; the App Store shows your local price. Buying Sparks never skips levels: items still open as your child plays.
You stay in control of purchases
- A grown-up check comes before every purchase, then Apple’s own purchase sheet.
- Switch purchases off in You → Settings (behind the same check). The paid section then disappears.
- Ask to Buy. If your child’s Apple Account is in your Family Sharing group, Apple turns Ask to Buy on by default for children under 13: you get a request on your device for downloads and purchases, and nothing is charged until you approve it.
- Screen Time can also block in-app purchases entirely.
Screen time
LikePose has no guilt messages or countdown pressure. Posts refill over time, and a missed day never wipes out progress. Settings include “Less motion” and switches for music and sound effects. After a few posts the App offers one optional evening reminder (“Your rainbow resets at midnight ✨”); it stays off unless your child says yes and allows notifications, and it can be turned off in You → Settings.
Deleting your child’s data
All game data lives on the device. Deleting the App deletes it. There is also a “Start over” button in the You tab, protected by a parent check.
Questions parents ask
Can my child talk to strangers?
No. There is no chat, no free typing and no online play. The only friends are kids sitting next to each other who scan each other’s code.
Can my child spend money without me knowing?
Every purchase needs the grown-up check and Apple’s purchase sheet. With Ask to Buy on, you approve each one on your own device. You can also switch purchases off in the game.
Do they need to pay to keep playing?
No. Posts refill on their own, Sparks and Gold are earned by playing, and every level, skin tone and photo filter is free.
Does it show real social media?
No. It’s a pretend feed with simulated followers. It isn’t connected to any real social network and nothing is ever posted online.
Does it collect my child’s information?
No. No accounts, no email, no tracking and no analytics. Everything stays on the device.
